admin_schiller06122025-02-17T17:51:59+08:00Hari Terbuka Santai-Santai BME (UMMC BME Open Day) is a program that was organized by University Malaya Medical Centre’s Department of Biomedical Engineering, to serve as a platform for the people of UMMC and the general public to better understand the functions and responsibilities of the department in the smooth operation of PPUM.
Date : 9:00AM, 10 July 2024.
Location : Dataran Siti Khadijah, Menara Timur, PPUM
The one-day event was joined by medical device vendors, PPUM staffs, and by public visitor. We are thankful for this opportunity to showcase our emergency care devices to all the participants.
From a biomedical perspective, a good device should be easy to maintain and its automatic self-tests should be configurable to meet the clinical needs of a healthcare practice. Furthermore, the documentation of device self-tests should also be simple.
The devices that our colleague had showcased in our booth are (left to right): EASY PULSE, FRED easyport plus, and DEFIGARD Touch 7.
EASY PULSE is a mechnical CPR that is easy to maintain. The battery level could be quickly assessed by pressing the indicator button on the batteries. To check that the mechanical chest compressor is functioning, simply power on the device and start the compression for a few seconds.
FRED easyport plus is a ultra-compact and robust professional AED. It features an automatic self-tests for the ease of maintenance. For users facing a large number of resuscitation cases, FRED easyport plus could be purchased with rechargeable batteries. The management of the rechargeable batteries are also made easy thanks to the on-battery battery indicator.
DEFIGARD Touch 7 also features a self-tests that is configurable to fit the clinical workflow. Being rated IP55 and able to withstand 1 meter drop according to EN 1789+A2:2014 and 60601-1-12: 2014 means that DEFIGARD Touch 7 could provide reliable functionality in harsh conditions, without the needs of frequent repairs.
